Circuit Lighting, Inc. and its designer Jim Cherry were called to provide staging and lighting for the musical presentation of the NBA All-Star Weekend event called “Slammin ‘Jammin’Jubilee", held at the Palestra Arena at the University of Pennsylvania on February 9, 2002. CAUSE, which stands for Christian Athletes for Spiritual Empowerment, created this second annual event to bring together celebrities with youth to inspire young people to reach a higher calling in their lives. The program featured a basketball clinic with hands on instructions by professional athletes. It was followed by a sport driven presentation featuring Kirk Franklin along with Nathalie Wilson and SOP, Cross Movement and vocalist Desiree. The 20’ x 30’ stage allowed for lighting supported by Genie lifts and Total Structure Trussing. The challenge was to make the lighting stand out despite of the bright lights that were lighting up its basket ball court.
"It was a pleasure working for an event that has a positive impact in youth’s lives. Show Manager Jonathan Cruz and I were able to accomplish our main goal which was to support the positive message the audience was given throughout the day with upbeat lighting. This was accomplished with ETC Source Four Pars and Par 64’s and Avolites Pearl control console. Everybody was happy with the outcome of the production" said Jim Cherry.
